Wigs and fabric supports
Wigs are available from the NHS but patients will be charged for them unless
they qualify for help with charges. There are extensive arrangements for
providing help with NHS prescription charges and other health costs such as
wigs.
Wigs and fabric supports costs from 1 April 2011
- Surgical brassiere – £25.10
- Abdominal or spinal support – £37.90
- Stock modacrylic wig – £61.85
- Partial human hair wig – £163.80
- Full bespoke human hair wig – £239.65
There are no nationally set limits on the number of wigs a patient can have from the
NHS. However, there is nothing preventing local NHS organisations from setting
their own limit.
As far as i am aware each area in the UK is different, it is known as “Postcode Lottery”
Which seems a little unfair but seems to be how the NHS works for which ever reason.
I think all Alopecians should move to Manchester since seemingly you can get a bespoke
£2000.00 real hair wig on the NHS.,…… AMAZING!!???!!!???
Which hospital in Manchester?
